At the beginning of October, you can still enjoy a brisk beach walk along the North Holland coast. The North Sea near Camperduin has a water temperature of around 19 degrees, definitely on the cool side for a swim, but still manageable for hardy swimmers.

Do wrap up warm, though, because the wind often blows harder than you think, and this time of year can be rainy. Showers pass through regularly, so a waterproof jacket in your rucksack is well worth packing. Make sure you wear proper footwear, the sand can feel wet and firm after a shower.

In short, Camperduin is well worth a visit in October too, as long as you're prepared for changeable weather.
