Cadzand-Bad

Fifteen beach clubs are spread along the beach of Cadzand-Bad, the most south-westerly seaside resort in the Netherlands. The border with Belgium is a stone's throw away. The village belongs to the municipality of Sluis and is an offshoot of Cadzand, which lies further inland.
The beach is wide and slopes gently towards the sea. At low tide a long strip of wet sand is left behind, where you can walk in peace. The dunes behind it are part of the nature area that runs along the entire coast of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
Cadzand-Bad has changed considerably in recent years. Apartments, a marina and higher-end hospitality have appeared along the boulevard. That development explains the atmosphere that visitors describe as both luxurious and relaxed. Alongside the newer venues you will still find beach clubs with a simpler character.
The food and drink on offer ranges from breakfast and brunch to lunch and dinner. Several venues serve all day long, while others focus on an evening with more elaborate dining. The average rating of the beach clubs is around 4.3 out of 5, which points to a fairly consistent quality.
Cadzand-Bad is not on the rail network. The nearest station is Vlissingen, about 11.7 kilometres away. If you travel by public transport, you should allow for a change to the bus. Many visitors come by car, including from Belgium, which begins nearby.
Other seaside resorts are close by. Breskens is about 7.4 kilometres away, with the ferry to Vlissingen for pedestrians and cyclists. Dishoek and Vlissingen lie on the far side of the Westerschelde and are further away by road than the straight-line distance might suggest.
The beach attracts families as well as couples and people looking for a quiet day out. Thanks to the combination of wide beaches, a purpose-built marina and hospitality across different price ranges, the crowd is mixed. In high season it is busy here, and considerably quieter in the early and late season.
For parking there is space within walking distance of the beach, partly paid. You will find the exact rates and locations in the parking overview on this page.

In rain or wind, the covered parts of the beach clubs offer shelter with a sea view. The newer venues along the boulevard have spacious indoor areas where you can eat even in less favourable weather.
In high season, from July to the end of August, Cadzand-Bad is busy. Many visitors come from Belgium and the Dutch interior, and the beach clubs and boulevard fill up.
The early and late season is quieter. In spring and early autumn the beach is good to walk without the crowds of the summer months, and many venues stay open.
The marina and the renewed boulevard keep things lively outside the summer. Walkers and cyclists use the coast all year round, partly thanks to its connection to the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen network.
In winter the offering shrinks and not all beach clubs are open. If you come during that period, it is wise to check in advance which venues are open. The beach itself remains accessible and is popular with walkers in strong winds.
