With 2,180 inhabitants, Kamperland is the largest village on Noord-Beveland, the Zeeland island between the Oosterschelde and the North Sea. The village lies within cycling distance of the coast and has three beach clubs in the immediate vicinity. The average rating of those venues comes to 4.1 out of 5.

The Banjaardstrand forms the North Sea side at Kamperland. It is a wide, gently sloping sandy beach with dunes behind it. The atmosphere at the beach clubs ranges from lively to more relaxed, with attention to service and design. If you prefer somewhere quieter, you will find plenty of space on the wide beach outside the busy hours.

The offering at the venues is extensive. You can come for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so a day by the sea can be planned from early until late. Several venues welcome dogs and are set up for families. If you are bringing a group, a corporate outing is possible, and you can also get married on site.

Kamperland itself has the amenities of a village: shops for everyday groceries, places to eat and drink, and accommodation. In summer the place draws many overnight visitors thanks to the campsites and holiday parks in the area, helped by the proximity of the Veerse Meer on the inland side of the island.

Its location makes it easy to combine the coast with other destinations. Vrouwenpolder is 5.7 kilometres away, Burgh-Haamstede 8.4 kilometres and Oostkapelle 10 kilometres. If you arrive by train, you travel as far as Middelburg station, 11.7 kilometres away, and continue from there by bus or bike.

The Banjaardstrand is known for its space and its relatively shallow coastline. At low tide a wide stretch is exposed, which makes the beach well suited to walking and playing. The combination of North Sea beach on one side and the Veerse Meer on the other gives Kamperland two faces: salt water with surf, and calmer inland water for water sports.

Great for

Families

The Banjaardstrand is wide and gently sloping, with dunes at the back and plenty of room to play. Several beach clubs are set up for children and serve breakfast and lunch as well as dinner. At low tide a wide stretch of the beach is exposed.

Bring your dog

Dogs are welcome on the Banjaardstrand and at several beach clubs. On the North Sea beach, lead rules apply during the day from 1 May to 1 October; outside that period your dog may run free. A clean-up obligation applies all year round.

Romantic dinner

Some of the beach clubs focus on a more upmarket experience with dining by the sea. The wide setting of the Banjaardstrand gives views over the North Sea during the evening hours. Booking ahead in high season is advisable.

Lunch by the sea

All three beach clubs serve lunch, so you can pause a beach walk for a hot or cold meal. The wide beach offers both sheltered and open spots. The average rating comes to 4.1 out of 5.

Corporate outing

A corporate outing is possible at the Kamperland beach clubs. The space on and around the Banjaardstrand lends itself to activities on the beach and at the water's edge. Combine a half-day with a shared lunch or dinner.

Bad weather

In rain or wind, the covered areas of the beach clubs offer shelter, with everything from breakfast to dinner on the menu. The village of Kamperland itself has shops and places to eat and drink if you want to avoid the beach. The Veerse Meer on the inland side of the island is a short distance away.

In the summer months Kamperland draws many overnight visitors. The campsites and holiday parks on Noord-Beveland and along the Veerse Meer fill up, and on warm days the Banjaardstrand is busy.

The three beach clubs run at full capacity in high season with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Outside summer the beach grows quieter, and opening hours and the offering may be more limited. Check this in advance with the venue of your choice.

The early and late season suit walkers and dog owners: from 1 October to 1 May your dog may run free on the North Sea beach. The wide beach and the open space around the island make a walk outside the busy months appealing.

The combination of North Sea beach and the inland water of the Veerse Meer gives the season two sides. When the wind is strong along the coast, the lake on the other side of the island offers shelter for water sports.
